You must have seen when you came in -- there was a trap that had been set off at the entrance to this place. The traps were there when I went to fetch medicinal plants with Lady Flayn and a few others, and we had reason to believe they were set by Ogata himself, although I don't know what entirely he was trying to catch.
[ food? maybe. whoever was behind that weird voice? also probable. the jungle had been utterly devoid of strange monsters, though, unlike apparently most every other part of this place. he brings a hand to his chin. ] And then, between the rock that I found and the wound on Ogata's forehead, and the second set of footsteps... I'm sure he wasn't alone. I do think the bear was what killed him, but someone must have antagonized it.
It would make sense for Ogata to have been the one to do so, if there had been no one else there. [ he was... an antagonizing guy... to say the least... but yin yu's too polite to say something like that. ] But he couldn't have been alone. There are pieces of this missing, and I can't in good conscious leave it incomplete, no matter what 'results' came about.
[ this is like the most word's he's spoken in a conversation in like a hundred years ]

[ how bold of you to expect that i can follow everything at trial and remember it for the following day but—giyuu will listen silently and (un)fortunately offer a few words on the matter. ]
If we catch that person, what would you plan to do? We have already cast a name for sacrifice. [ but they would be a person short. ] Would you also sacrifice them for their actions?
[ look, giyuu holds no real positive feeling towards ogata, so he can't feel the same drive but he does understand wanting to not leave things as they are. ]
[ that's why i tagged it first thing today while my brain was not swiss cheese
yin yu doesn't quite sigh, but he shakes his head immediately. he's not the type to get swept up in fervor, and the idea of there being more bloodshed feels like the number one thing to avoid. ] ...No. Of course not.
[ frustrating. yin yu doesn't like to sit idle--it lets his thoughts gather way too much. ] Even an explanation would be something. I don't know what else I can do.
but giyuu can understand yin yu's frustration—it's been what has been eating at him the entire time. so many people are dying and yet there are seemingly no closer to understanding what is going on. surely, there is something within all of that information, right? ]
To figure out what is going on here is the only real choice that we have in this matter.

Most people here don't have a lot of experience with things like this.
[ he says with a slight nod. ]
What do you think might have happened with him? The bear seemed to have settled down after Kanroji dealt with it, right?

[ and even though this is rich coming from him: ]
If we talk enough, something might become clear.
