[ can you believe that it's still week 0? why is this the longest week known to man.
but where is dimitri? he would definitely be someone he would be looking for if he split after the execution. they were standing close during the execution itself even if shinobu acting like a sort of buffer. he didn't miss the fact that he showed her some sort of support with what was happening—it gave him an odd sense of comfort.
regardless, giyuu will be looking to speak to him., but also minding of how to gauge the situation and dimitri's temperament. ]
Anyway, Dimitri is off by the sports court, looking over some of the equipment. He looks... more composed than he did on the island at least, though there's still something tense in his movements. His voice is the same—level, but tight. ]
Giyuu. Were you looking for me, or—? [ gestures to all this sports gear ]
giyuu will take a look towards the sports the gear and then back to dimitri. admittedly he's a little surprised to find him here but, then again, there are only so many places to be and it might be good to do something. ]
[ Giyuu's been making an effort since they arrived to speak with him. It's impossible not to notice, even for someone as dense as Dimitri. He glances sidelong at him before nodding. ]
I don't know how to make use of most of this equipment... I was hoping to find something to spar with.
[ A tennis racket isn't exactly a good alternative for a sword, though. ]
I like keeping active—an idle body means an idle mind.
[ giyuu can understand the need to want to active and keep idle hands busy, it's why he has been wandering around whenever he can't find time that can be occupied but—he also has the bonus of having his sword practice with if he felt it necessary. ]
Anaido showed me how to use this one.
[ he'll pick up the tennis racket with one hand and look for where the balls were stored. ]
[ he'll find a ball soon enough but make the effort to take off his haori and remove his sword from his waist and put it on ground to the side of the court. it's still awkward but he swings the racket a few times not unlike how he would swing a sword, unfortunately. ]
I have something to ask of you as well but, you should ask me first.
[ since maybe whatever dimitri might ask would be in-line with whatever he wants to ask? either way, he's more curious to listen to what dimitri has to say. ]
As for the game—the basics are that you hit this ball over the net with these. [ he holds up the racket and ball ] The ball must bounce once before it's returned.
[ He watches his little demo, grabbing a tennis ball and giving it a little bounce. It's odd, but after a few tries he thinks he gets how it behaves, at least. ]
Sounds simple enough.
[ He doesn't go for smacking at Giyuu yet, though, trying to see if he can even bounce the ball a few times against the racket face first. ]
And very well then. I was wondering why you thought to check the isolation cabin last investigation.
[ ah. he can guess why dimitri would be concerned with that. ]
The person we were with—she was the one who told me about the isolation cabin when we spoke on Friday.
[ he does not know beau's name and that's just fine with him. she doesn't know his name either despite the number of times that they've spoken. maybe one day they'll introduce themselves. ]
She informed me that there was someone who woke up with an "affect" from the room and wouldn't stop crying. [ damian. he bounces the ball himself idly. ] ...and after speaking to some of the others here about their experiences—things like that are to be noted.
[ people waking up in places with random knowledge, mysterious wounds that fade away... they're all very strange. ]
Much like how I smelled of smoke before our first trial on the island. [ ... ] I knew the bathroom would be a keyplace as well given the blood I saw on Friday, but I wanted to see what would cause someone to cry like that.
Did you receive a prize? [ he asks simply and directly. ] I received a sticker that allows me to hear things better for an hour.
[ he told him (them) that he'd be honest. no more lies. no more secrets—even if it means that he'd be punished for it. he can be perceived as terrible as other people want to see him, but he doesn't want to be seen as a liar. he doesn't have a death wish but—well, he hits the ball back to dimitri. ]
You don't have to confirm what team you're on or tell me your abilities, but I wanted to know if you received anything like that and for you to know that.
[ that's all, for now. dimitri hits the ball back—not very well on the first go, but his hand-eye coordination is good, so they'll get the hang of it. ]
I did not—perhaps because I fell asleep outside?
[ that much is easy to share, anyway. as for the second question, they volley for a little bit as he thinks, clearly distracted.
on the island, he would've told giyuu something like that without doubt. would that have gotten him killed? ]
As for the abilities, I have one, yes. I think it's safe to assume from those strange, colored lists that we all do. But I would not call mine anything special.
[ hm. no prize for dimitri but a prize for him. shame he doesn't know what team he's on. ]
It seems as though we have all received some sort of new ability in addition to being sorted into teams. [ he pauses for a moment and focuses on hitting the ball over towards dimitri. it isn't hesitation as it is bracing for what he'll hear next. ] Do with this information as you wish, but mine allows me to drain a person's emotion.
[ a beat that matches the bounce of the ball. ]
I can drain a person's emotions completely or only partially.
[ giyuu doesn't react to the ball being missed either and just looks at dimitri deadly serious and ready for whatever else that might come next. ]
Why wouldn't I?
[ it's an innocent question despite the implications. he knows what he did but it doesn't bother him. ]
This isn't to win your trust back or to force you to change your mind about anything.
[ he adds just for clarity's sake. no, he isn't about to ask for any of that back. the island took that from him and he has no right to it. if he must earn it back then he will do it without knowledge of that being the requirement. all he needs to do right now, is be himself. ]
[ His grip on the stupid tennis racket tightens, his eyes squeezed shut a moment. Nevermind that it was part of the rules—frankly, screw the rules—but they had no idea what the mechanics of the game were like. This could affect him in ways he can't even realize yet.
He supposes it could be a lie, but it'd be easy enough to prove, wouldn't it? This had to be some ploy to try and win his favor back, no matter what Giyuu was saying, but what if it wasn't? ]
...I can't tell you mine.
[ Chivalry demands that he must—he should be honest, when someone extends that courtesy to him. It eats at him to go against that, like rejecting his very nature, but he can't. ]
You know I wouldn't, right? After everything—there's no way I could. And still, you...
[ giyuu waits patiently for dimitri to respond and never looks away. he doesn't want to miss any tell or sign that would give him warning of how he should act next. he wants to learn from his past mistakes, and isn't surprised when he hears the answer. ]
I knew. It'd be surprising if you had.
[ he understands. even if his voice lacks an array of inflections—he understands. ]
...and if you have doubts about telling the truth or not, I could show you, but I don't want to do anything else to you if I can avoid it.
[ since that would be the best way to prove if he was telling the truth or not, right? if he drained some of dimitri's emotions from him but he...won't. unless dimitri demands it of him, he will refuse. ]
w0 post execution

That's true enough—I woke up with a fever on Friday myself. It's all very suspicious.
[ He bounces the ball a few times more, getting used to the motion, before gently hitting it towards Giyuu. They don't have to start with the net. ]
