[ giyuu isn't nearly as well-liked as sanji might believe but there are enough people who have come to visit him that takes enough out of him where he is nearing the end of what he can manage. his exhaustion from before is not helping at all.
still he doesn't shoo sanji away and just barely waves to him with his left hand. ]
[ is... is that helpful? surely shinobu made him drink fluids as well but was it really enough? (or more realistically, he might have forgotten to be the best patient). ]
[ it's bandaged up!! at least....though there will be a vacant space in the right side of his haori where an arm should be. either way he'll make a noncommittal noise at sanji. ]
I'll do my best to. [ which sounds like a lie? so, hm. ] There are those who will make sure that I do as well.
[ though the part where he scared others is a bit..? ]
won't comment about how people care about him. surely on some level he understands that but there are [redacted] reasons why that is a bit hard for him to fully comprehend. it's all fair...? kind of. (no.)
either way, he'll look at where his right arm used to be. ]
Yes, we were all were wondering what could happen. This was considered a "light" punishment as well.
... If it's anything like what happened in the castle, then the next punishment will probably kill.
[Much as he wants to grill Giyuu about the magic of sharing and caring and NAKAMA, Sanji knows it's. not his place, not knowing that much about Giyuu to begin with.]
I'm not glad you were the one who got punished, but this better get everyone's asses in gear. We can't afford fuck-ups.
[ cries in my hands, please. please do. i, naru, welcome this wholeheartedly. that said, when sanji calls it a "bad mistake" that's...an interesting response and has him looking at sanji for a moment or two. he's definitely the first person to frame it like that.
he has gotten words of disappointment of how reckless he was and applauding what he did and that like but... a bad mistake? hm. ]
What way were the two of you thinking?
[ because that sparks his interest and is curious to hear about what other options that they can explore that, well, won't end with someone's arm being being destroyed. ]
[Sanji is of the mind that Giyuu didn't mean to lose his whole-ass arm by sharing information, and so that's what leads his lack of judgment -- there's no point in expressing disappointment when the deed is done, and if it wasn't done on purpose, applause is also silly.
It simply is what it is, a new fact of life everyone needs to get used to.]
Right now I'm of the opinion that we spend too much time waiting for the investigation teams to get back. Everyone gets antsy, cranky, and especially if there's no shitty evidence to guide us, it leads to panic. The first name that sounds vaguely suspicious is the one who gets voted to death.
[It happened to Ogata. It happened to Guy. It'll happen to whatever poor bastard gets set up next week]
So just as a start, we wanna have everyone do an inventory and injury check early. Then, at least, when the teams come back, we can apply what they've found to information we already got on hand. Get it?
[ giyuu didn't intentionally want to lose his arm, no, that much is correct but he did want to make sure people knew what they needed/should know.
he respects sanji's view on the matter. or well, would. but giyuu also nods along with sanji (and dick's) idea of how to handle the beginning of the trials. there is so much time wasted while they're waiting and often they are derailed about the stupidest things... he supports it. ]
We did that on the island. We had many more bodies to go through and had to look for them ourselves. [ much like yu. ] There were only two trials we took part in but the on the second one, we decided to mark where we stayed, emptied our pockets, and exposed ourselves for any kind of questionable injuries.
I can't say it saved us time since we had to deal with finding the bodies, five the first time and four the second, but perhaps here it would be easier give how much more help we're getting.
[... Five bodies the first week, and then four the second week.
Sanji says nothing on the matter, but lord, his expression darkens with surprise. Those are the types of numbers that would have nearly broke the resolve of the castle. The island crew really went through it.]
I figure at this point, we gotta try whatever shit we can. Doing the same thing over and over, expecting different results... [Ha. Ha. What do they say about madness again?]
We're not gonna make ourselves do better unless we change up our strategy.
[ sometimes you just gotta murder a lot of people in two weeks for the blood gods who are possessing you. ]
I agree.
[ he really does, and given sanji's and dick's involvement in the trials—they can definitely get things done. it doesn't seem like they get pulled off topic very easily and focus at the matter at hand. ]
Being thorough and not overlooking anything will be important as well. It's easy to overlook something just because you're familiar with them or have grown to like them.
[ he says this, but he also frowns at it. a lot has happened here for him and the very idea of it... it's definitely he's both angry and disappointed at this point. ]
You ain't wrong. I'm already noticing a tendency to forgive your cabinmates and people from your previous games.
[nothing so egregious that Sanji has to call people out on their shit, but... the seeds are being planted. Fairness is already subjective.]
So it'll be a lot of holding everyone to higher standards. And trust me -- as the teams start dwindling in numbers, things are gonna get a lot uglier. What happens if someone from Heart's team is the murderer? Their teammates -- anyone who knows about their team -- might do whatever they can to grant them a free pass, maybe pin the blame on someone from Shadow's team.
Trust those who you know or seem unlikely while voting for those who show an ounce of seeming to be suspicious. We've gotten it wrong two times because of this.
[ terrible, honestly. the fact that there is at least one person who killed and got away with it. will there be another? giyuu doesn't want to see it. everyone wants to do better. ]
Black Shadows certainly has a target painted on it's back for both being the team to suspect of murder as well as the team to target if people here want to play by the rules that we know.
[ he means the win conditions, of course. ]
We really need to look closely at what we know verses what we think we know.
[ people's powers, their items... anything that's public knowledge and those who would have access to that knowledge. ]

I do.

... Damn, though. Just... seeing the damage dries out Sanji's throat. He rubs tiredly at his neck]
Well, first off -- you getting enough liquids on you? Your body's probably pitchin' a shitty fit.

I drank water when I took my medication.
[ is... is that helpful? surely shinobu made him drink fluids as well but was it really enough? (or more realistically, he might have forgotten to be the best patient). ]

[Nodding towards his... lack of arm. God.]
You lost a lot of fluids in one fell swoop, so if you start getting dizzy or dehydrated, just... [Mmmff]
Just look after yourself. You scared the shit outta us.

People care about you, of course. And not a lot of us were expecting... that...
[Suspected? Oh hell yeah, the moment Giyuu started sharing a little too freely. The sight was still a lot to take in]

Yes, we need to find a better—smarter—way to share the information that we all know.
[ because that's really what is hurting them....quite literally in giyuu's case. if they could just know more about one another— ]
The island didn't have anything like this and even if it did, I would have been no more helpful than our directors here.

Me and Dick are working on something... maybe not a better way to share info, but at least a way to keep from wasting shitty time during trials.
[Folding his arms and squinting at the other]
Oi, don't put yourself down, alright? It was a bad mistake, but still just that.
