[ For a moment, Shinobu goes silent and still until finally, her expression twists in frustration.
Her features smooths back into something they're both used to, a very neutral smile. ]
It does make it seem like they're almost as trapped as we are. I'm still skeptical because I've been cautioned again about keeping things secret even time I press about why our powers shouldn't be shared openly, but I can't say I hate them after talking with them.
...If we can trust them, then I think their power will be a boon to us.
[ But he doesn't say he trusts them, yet. His experiences have not been so different from Shinobu's own: evasive and secretive. It did seem that all of them were limited in some way, though. ]
[ because this is bugging him more than maybe it should? most powers, as far as he knows, are rooted in something explainable (in their own personal lores) but the directors... it's almost as thought it's on a whim. ]
It seems as though there are things that they can do and things that they can't do.
[ another thing that has been bugging him since the start but with the appearance of the manor, just drives in a nasty feeling. ]
When we first arrived, I asked one of them about the island, however they couldn't confirm that it was destroyed or what happened to it.
[ A beat goes by when Shinobu says nothing and doesn't move. Her hands curl into fists, which is not great for her to do considering where some of her burns are. ]
One of them told me... they don't really have a family. Or that was what was implied.
[ It makes her a little sad to think about because even if she doesn't like or care for someone, family is such a center point of her world that she can't imagine what it'd be like to live without one at some point. ]
Considering how it seems like the portal by the forest lets people visit the House that the others came from, I think it's a fair assumption that if we stay long enough, the island can be a place to visit as well.
[ His expression hardens into a slight scowl. Just the thought of the island makes his gut churn. ]
I think I'm coming to hate this place just as much.
[ Which is impressive, considering just how much vitriol they'd all built up towards their last 'game' in just two weeks. ]
But the island should be dormant, even if we see it again... In any case, I think that may be beyond the directors' control. Judging from what we saw, there may be another force at play.
I hated it as soon as I realized this wasn't where we were supposed to be.
[ which should have been obvious...under all of the guilt he felt almost immediately given how things went. it was a bad time. it still is a bad time. ]
There's definitely something influencing everything that has been going on here and it's a matter of figuring out who or what it is. [ is it an aspect of their experiences combined together somehow?? ] ...and how quickly we can get rid of them.
[ six weeks... two was bad enough. they all have different ways of expressing it, but their collective frustration is palpable. he hates this place, this game. he stares at the table, frowning in thought. ]
The residuals the directors speak of... If they are truly influencing our circumstances, I haven't the faintest idea of how to fight them.
[ how do you fight back against something like that? is the pink voice even an entity that they can attack, or is it like the curse before? ]
If it's truly something that followed us from our previous experience, will we have another mastermind to deal with...?
no subject
[ he pauses for a moment because he isn't entirely sure of where he stands on this matter. ]
Perhaps they are not as guilty as many of us think.

[ a mastermind, so to speak. ]

[ Shinobu wants to be more logical than paranoid. That will only lead them to take the wrong turn. ]
Everyone expects six weeks is how long it will take.
[ And Shinobu hates the idea of that. ]
